Riley Park Shufflers Host Mount Dora Visitors

Mount Dora Shuffleboard Club visited Riley Park for mixed competition with the Park players. Park ladies won their match while Mount Dora’s gents defeated Park men, with one draw. Mount Dora Art League held its annual outdoor exhibit at Annie Donnelly Park with works by members and instructor Charles E. Shaw of Eustis. Sergeant Milton R. Smeets of Mount Dora, 26, credited with damaging an ME 109 during a dense enemy air attack on a Ninth Air Force raiding formation near Euskirchen Germany. Pilot Chapin reports firing at least 250 rounds and witnessing flames as a pilot bailed out. escort planes then downed more fighters as bombs hit the bridge railway supplying troops.
