Methodist Church announces Sunday classes at 10 a m and all church services open to the public. Holy Communion at 11 a m with Morning Worship led by Rev. George Gibson. Music by Mrs C M Oto and the church choir. Youth Fellowship meets 6 30 p m in the parish house for a weekly apse y meeting and social hour.
Beginning Sunday July 8 the Mount Dora Church of Christ will host two weeks of lectures by noted Florida ministers to inaugurate the new Fifth avenue building. Evening services start at 8 15 with a daily Bible School from July 9 at 9 30 through the two weeks. Attendance is invited for all.
Dr. H. T. Fenn departed Tuesday for Union Springs Alabama to attend the death of his sister in law Mrs. E J Fenn wife of his elder brother He will be away several days for the family funeral and related services.
War Food Administration will send publications on request to home canners and others planning to dry can or process peaches. Items include Home Canning of Fruits and Vegetables Oven-Drying Pickle and Relish Recipes Making Velva Fruit at Home Putting up the Peaches. Requests with name and return address should be sent to the Office of Supply Western Union Building Atlanta Georgia.
Service Men’s Club announces the passing of Judge E W Crowell known as Pop. A Connecticut native he came to Mount Dora with Mrs Crowell and supported soldiers and workers at the club. The community offers deepest sympathy to Mrs Crowell in this great loss.

A historic three day rain drenched Central Florida last week bringing the longest steady rainfall in years. The storm began Friday and ended Sunday morning, with heavy precipitation but only minor roof leaks and no hurricane level damage. Leesburg reported strong winds and light damage as the system tracked from the Gulf toward the Atlantic, threatening North Carolina and Virginia coasts before turning north.

Note to farmers that July 1 is the last date to obtain slaughtering permits for meat sold in 1945. Farmers should apply to their War Price and Rationing Board now for the required permits.
Cpl. Donald Thompson has written his mother asking no letters until further notice as he hopes to return home in July. Cpl. George Jerue has been returned to the States and is at the Naval hospital in San Diego after a serious head injury on Okinawa. Howard J. Wetz, chief petty officer in the Seabees, left for Mayport to embark for duty after a thirty year furlough spent with family and friends. Lt. Commander Irving Shuman Jr. and Warrant Officer Alfred Rehbaum Jr. of the Maritime Service reported at Tampa for duty after thirty days leave, then returned home when their ship was not ready to leave. Cpl. Walter L. Tucker moved from Courtland Army Air Field Alabama to Fort Myers Florida for B-29 gunnery training. Cpl. Baker earned his gunner’s wings at Harrigan Texas Army Air Field and has since been stationed at Courtland Alabama.
The Girl Scout Camp at Silver Glen Springs concluded with a Court of Awards and a fine program. Scouts Barbara Shipes Betty Ann Ray Mary Martha Simpson Sally Strite Carol Swort Roberta Pollard Patty Claflin Ellen Marcelle Helen Whitehead Martha Simpson Patsy Dean Carolyn Keller Frances Smith Emily Coffin attended from Mount Dora and Miami. Leaders Mrs Fletcher Crane and Mrs William Lawrence headed the event.
John L. Fahs announces that every motor vehicle used on highways must display a new five dollar Automobile Use Tax Stamp starting July 1 1945. Deputies will enforce the law beginning July 2 and motorists are urged to comply, purchase stamps at post offices, and record the stamp serial number with vehicle details.
A gathering of parents and others interested in youth will meet at the Youth Center Monday at 8 o'clock. The purpose is to plan the summer activities for the young people.
Myron Cronwalt, former Mount Dora resident and businessman, has purchased the Mount Dora Hotel from the J. P. Donnelly Estate. He plans to arrive by September, while the hotel remains closed. Mrs. Manuel Sedano will operate a tea room at 342 Ninth Avenue West after buying Dr. R. W. Dickson’s residence. alterations will add seating. Cronwalt, active in Jacksonville Beach business, returns to Mount Dora with community support.

The former D F Gorham home at Grand view street and Ninth avenue has been bought by Jack Brandon who rents it to Miss Elizabeth Clark. Clark operates the Antique and White Elephant Shop and has moved her business to the new site.
