Regatta Plans St. Augustine Miami Marathon Circuit
Region Five officials met at Sieg to map a tentative winter regatta schedule delaying opening by about six weeks to dodge rough water. Mount Dora officials supported a March 21 date for the annual regatta and discussed a new interstate outboard steeple chase. A Leesburg Leesburg club invitation to Orlando for a July picnic at Howey was noted, with Mount Dora boats expected to join from Lake Harris.

County Lakes Get More Bass Fingerlings Released
More than 23 000 bass fingerlings were released in Lake County during the first five months of 1947 at the request of Mount Dora and Eustis Chambers of Commerce. The fingerlings were raised at Winter Haven and released across nearly a dozen lakes, part of over 1 100 000 fingerlings released statewide this year. The project aims to replenish over fished waters with bass and other species.

Five hours of search by Shangri la and accompanying ships failed to recover him as the Pearl Harbor bound vessel neared Australia. The Durden family awaits word on his next assignment as the ship heads to San Diego for mothballing arrangements.

The Measure of a Man and a Octopus Controversy
A reflective couplet on measuring a person by character over status, followed by a note that encyclopedias report octopuses in captivity may eat their own arms despite ample food. The blend contrasts human virtue with a scientific oddity.
