New Methodist Pastor and Family Arrive in Mount Dora
Rev. Floyd W. Cooper, his wife Helen and children Charlotte Louise and Paul Silas arrived to occupy the Mount Dora Methodist parsonage. He comes from Hollywood Florida after six years at Hollywood Temple Methodist Church and trained at Northwestern University and Garrett Theological Seminary. Mrs. Cooper is a skilled pianist and violinist. A reception in their honor is set for Friday at 8:00 PM at the parish house.

Scrap Rubber Drive Boosts War Material Effort
Joe Wilson of the Santa Rosa salvage committee says rubber is being collected from wholesale to retail and even in other counties. In Jacksonville headquarters over 2,000,000 pounds were logged in five days as dumps and “rubber mines” yield reclaimable material for defense needs. State officials urge intensified collection before next Wednesday’s close, stressing local defense funds and that no rubber will be wasted.

Schwartz injures eye in theater projection room accident
Walter W. Schwartz film operator at the Princess Theatre injured his eye last Thursday night while driving a nail through metal sheathing in the projection room. The hammer slipped, the nail struck his eye, and he is under treatment with hopes to save sight despite likely impairment.

David Jr transferred from anute Field to Lincoln Air Base Nebraska. Lieut. Robert W. Dickson Jr formerly in Puerto Rico now to the Canal Zone.
