The Wednesday night blackout was generally good with few slip ups. Residents followed the siren signals though some mistook the red and blue cues. Civilian Defense remains mobilized and lights stay off until the all clear after church bells ring.

Aviation Cadet Tommy Shipes finished primary at Norman OK and moves to Corpus Christi TX for basic training. Robert S Goodman Bobby is home briefly from Jacksonville where he trains in trade school as a seaman second class in Aviation Ordnance USNR. Harry S Bouterse of Miami enlisted in the Naval Air Service and is at Cecil Field Jacksonville. Gould Sadler Lieut j g USNR stationed in Miami stopped to see Mount Dora relatives on way home to Eustis. Robert Vincent Bobby was inducted July 6 and is at boot camp Great Lakes IL. After four weeks he will begin regular training and hopes to become a gunner's mate.
James Thompson stationed in Maryland for boat training writes his mother Marie Thompson that he enjoys Navy life and has received several cards from friends. He hopes to hear from more and lists his Bainbridge address in Maryland. Sgt James A Scott in England reports not flying now but doing ground work and notes trips to London with time for shows and rest aided by the Red Cross. He says life is quiet with meals and sleep, and hints at continued coverage on the next page.
