George E Motner, a 32 year old Dunedin classroom teacher, named principal of Mount Dora High School and set to assume duties August 3. He will replace Jack Morgan who resigned to become Lake County superintendent. John E Graham of Munice had been chosen but declined due to family reasons. The emergency appointment followed a special school board meeting in Tavares.

More than 700 youths from Central Florida communities will compete in the Mount Dora Invitational Swim Meet. The Florida Association of the Amateur Athletic Union sanctions the event which runs 9 a.m. to evening on Friday and Saturday with 36 boys and 36 girls events planned initially and 34 more on Saturday.
