Parade and Ceremony mark American Heritage Day in Mount Dora

Mount Dora Swim Club members travel to Eustis this weekend after a mixed showing in Orlando. Sandy Husebo led the Orange Swim Association Invitational with a first in 8 under 25 yard backstroke and runner up in 25 yard butterfly. Mount Dora’s 159-17 year boys relay—Jackie Pease Edward Brooks John Bowman Allan Whittington—placed fourth in 200 yard freestyle and fifth in 200 yard medley. Coach Jim Jackson expects tough competition Friday and Saturday as the final outing before the July invitational.

Parked Police Car Rolls Back Into Another
A Mount Dora police car rolled backward from a south side parking spot striking a foreign made auto on the north side. Kenneth Cox, dispatcher for police and fire, owned the damaged car with damage over 100 dollars. Police Chief J T Huett noted the cause was unclear and the police car remained undamaged. Earlier, two police units backed into each other near the station with minor damage expected.

City Council Approves 1100 for Water Well No 3 Inspection
The City Council authorized expenditure of 1100 to pull and inspect water well No 3. The inspection was due last year but was delayed due to problems with well No 2 necessitating earlier maintenance on that site.
Luxury condo project on Lake Dora faces interest shortfall
Orlando broker William A. Patrick says a seven acre site on Alternate U. S. 441 with plans for 80 to 100 luxury condominium units may not reach the drawing boards due to weak buyer interest. Meetings drew about 40 locals, many needing to sell homes first. Patrick expects feasibility to attract financiers only if local demand and newcomers prove strong.
