She was found unconscious at her hotel after breakfast on Friday July 8 and transported to a hospital where brain and right side paralysis were observed. she remained unconscious as of the latest report.

Women’s Camp Opens at McQuarrie in August

The Home Demonstration women and 4H Club mothers from Lake Sumter Levy Marion and Citrus counties may attend a week of recreation at McQuarrie Camp. Florida Telephone Corporation prepares for dial system by building a central switching plant behind City Hall on Fifth Avenue. Florida orange juice gains in central states

Promotion manager L. W. Marvin of the Florida Citrus Commission reports canned Florida orange juice distribution rivals canned grapefruit juice in central states. A Chicago survey found 91 percent of stores stocking orange juice, and a display at the National Retail Grocers’ convention in Cincinnati highlighted the blend of Florida orange and espen fruit juice.

Elmer Haskins and David Spilliard of Mount Dora won first in their hillbilly songs during the Lake County Amateur Contest elimination at the State Theatre Eustis. Freida Anz of Inland Beach took first in the second night. The top acts from both nights, including runners up, spoke on WDBO for Jaycee judges last Monday. The County Contest, to be held later in Orlando Beacham Theatre, was sponsored by the Lake County Chamber of Commerce and directed by the County Recreation Department with Clayton L. Mrs Nellie Roberts returned home yesterday after two days at Lake County Medical Center in Eustis. She was admitted early Monday with a serious inflammation in her right arm, a problem she has intermittently endured for years. She rests easily and shows great improvement.

Lights go out during Princess Theatre show

An electrical disturbance caused the lights to fail for about five seconds during a Tuesday night screening at the Princess Theatre. Swartz the operator says the outage was accidental, not part of the act, though it happened to fit a line about paying the light bill.

The Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce voted to sponsor a summer tennis tournament with a silver trophy for the men singles winner and cups for men doubles and mixed doubles. One of First School Teachers Visits Here

Mrs. C. E. Folsom formerly Miss Gertrude B. Gates stopped in Mount Dora to visit the Tremains and the Misses Carrie and Mamie True while en route from Atlanta to Orlando last Sunday. This was her first Mount Dora visit in twenty years. Edith Gates, the first teacher here, began in 1882, and Mrs. Folsom began in 1888.
