Council Grants Variance For Rebuilding House
Mount Dora City Council approved a variance for Henry Thomas of East Town to rebuild a house despite building permit shortfalls. The vote cited undue hardship and aimed to improve area aesthetics with support from Councilors Champion and Schubert. The meeting also approved a site plan for a Utilities and Public Works project at 12th and Lincoln and east Highland streets and a softball field on the old high school site. City Building Inspector John Cain reported June building activity, noting eight permits in June 1967 versus five in 1966, with a total value of 186 400 dollars, and two new homes under construction. For the first half of 1967 the total value reached 294 400 dollars against 195 750 dollars in 1966.

S Sgt Guy White Wounded in Vietnam Second Time
Mrs. Guy White learns her husband Staff Sgt Guy G White was wounded by shrapnel on July 5 in Quang Tri Vietnam. It is his second wounding in under a month with earlier leg injuries on May 19. He is reported in the hospital ward aboard the USS Okinawa and has previously received the Purple Heart.
