The Community Church hosts a forum Monday at 8 p m on Atomic Energy for Peace. Speaker Lt Commander George C ye a Rhodes scholar in U S Navy intelligence will field questions. Public invited with free admission and a collection to cover expenses.
Dr Hamilton Holt president of Rolando discusses progress toward world government at a Monday Forum at the Methodist Church. He recalls the San Francisco Conference and notes committees are forming to draft laws amid calls for faster action due to the atomic bomb.
A list of guests checking in for the season includes Mr and Mrs Dave Mc Intosh of Palos Park Illinois and Mr and Mrs W R Jerrell of Akron among others from Michigan Ohio New York and Ohio. Shorter visits include H B Ebbingham and Mrs Rua and Mrs Cora Johnson both of Akron.
Thomas W. Long from the Internal Revenue Department will be in Mount Dora February 5 at the Chamber of Commerce to assist residents or visitors with income tax reports and related issues. He will be available from 9 to noon with data ready for quickest service.
An overheated water heater in a bathroom at Donnelly and Third prompted a Tuesday morning fire department response. The blaze was extinguished with only wall smoke damage and no structural loss reported.

Jonathan M. Wainwright and UNO officials urge aid as the Lions Club begins the Victory Clothing Collection for Jenin Relief. Citizens are asked to donate lightweight clothing and shoes to assist refugees in bomb damaged areas, with drop sites Reid Standard Station and Bardwell Green Fuel at Fifth and Alexander.
January meeting heard Dr. Helen Cole of Rollins College speak on A Reader Looks at the World and Rocking Chair Travel focusing on Russia and China. The club appointed a nominating committee for a two year slate, tea was served, and the next meeting on February sixth will feature Dean Henry M. Edmonds of Rollins College.

The annual meeting January 23rd reported strong benevolence, a $400 surplus appropriation for 1945, and continued support for the Mount Dora Youth Center. Deaconess Miss Margaret Lewis was thanked for decades of service, and the Woman's Association meets February 1st with Amos and Hosea talk planned. Dr. Richards will preach The Most Excellent Way at the 11 o'clock service.

The Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce Kiwanis Club and Lions Club hold a joint annual meeting on Feb 8 at 6 30 p m in the Community Building rooms. Harold Colee of Jacksonville will speak on Florida Socially and Economically. Tickets cost 1 and sell out fast.

Grand View Hotel hosts Mr. and Mrs. John Lair from Renfro Valley for an extended stay with their two daughters Barbara and Nancy. They are joined by Mrs. Crawford of Covington and Mr. and Lucius Teter of Chicago. Mrs. Teter, sister to Miss Elmira Sodor, will stay longer while Mr. Teter plans a short return north. Mrs. Agnes Belze, visiting for weeks, leaves February 1 for Orlando. L. A. Hoffman of Cincinnati leaves to join a fishing trip north. Harbor Springs, Mish., arrival noted Friday.

Mount Dora players compete in a 1945 schedule with boys and girls teams except Jan 29 and Feb 11 against Leesburg for Boys A and B. Games listed at 7 30 p m include Feb 1 at Sanford, Feb 5 at Tavares, Feb 8 at Umatilla, Feb 11 vs Leesburg with admission 15 cents for elementary and 35 cents for Jr Sr High.
