Radio program honors Coolidge Monday night

A national Monday night program dedicated to Calvin Coolidge aired from 9:00 with Edison company Old Time favorites. Dora was on air from fifty stations as musicians and artists participated to honor Coolidge who is wintering in Mount Dora Florida. Mount Dora to be featured again Saturday night the 25th with Jacksonville Mayor John T Jr speaking in New York before the National Board of Review. Alsop, guest at Lake Side Inn opening, promised to mention his visit with Coolidge during the broadcast.

Tourist Club Plans Taxation Talk With Local Notables

A January 31 meeting of the Tourist Club features Hon. T. G. Futch of Leesburg discussing Taxation, with Q A at the end. Music by Mr. and Mrs. Mumaw and son of Eustis, plus performances by Eustis and Mount Dora talent. The venue is the Community Church with pipe organ.

Central Florida Exposition officials host a press breakflat in Orlando on Friday night February 21 starting at eleven p m and continuing until breakfast. It is Florida's only Gridiron Club meeting of the year and the South Florida Press Association gathering.

Rollins Foreign Students Present Fine Mount Dora Program

The Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce sponsored a substantial program by Rollins College foreign exchange students led by Miss Lida Woods. The Baptist Tabernacle crowd heard artists speak in their native tongues with standout performances by Italian pianist Dr Morozzo and Japanese student Miss Taka Sugino drawing prolonged applause.

Garden Club Plans Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony

Lake County P T A Holds Mid Winter Council Meet

The Lake County Council of the P T A met in Groveland on Saturday January 18 with about thirty officers and delegates. Mrs Trigg Tuttle presided and delegates from Mount Dora spoke on school needs, health work, and the push for a county nurse. An April Howey invitation and a new officer slate were announced as the council looks to future growth for Lake County schools.

Town Council Adopts Routine 1930 Measures

Dr Calvin of Eustis Dies After Hunting Accident

Dr. Williams J. Calvin of Eustis died Thursday at Orange General Hospital Orlando from accidental shotgun discharge during a hunting trip. He was found near Sorrento after a dog jumped the gun, remained on the ground for hours, and died despite blood transfusions. He had moved to Florida 16 years ago from Chicago following friendship with Dr. Callahan who died recently in an unrelated accident.

Atlantic Coast Line Officials Visit Mount Dora

A group of ACL officials led by W J Craig visited Mount Dora meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and Lakeside Inn management. They were presented to Hon Calvin Coolidge then dined in Mount Plymouth. Craig said through sleepers from Florida to New England will be arranged for next season amid growing interest in Mount Dora.
