Moss Bluff Dam Bids To Be Let
The Army Corps of Engineers will open bids February 21 for a new Moss Bluff Lock and Dam on the Oklawaha River about 20 miles southeast of Ocala. The Marion County lock will be 30 by 125 feet with eight feet of water depth, two 20 by 12 foot spillway gates, and emergency generators. Contractors must begin within 30 days of award and finish within 24 months.

Edgerton Named Lake Chairman For Heart Fund Drive
Richard Edgerton longtime Lakeside Inn Properties president was named Lake County Chairman of the 1967 Heart Fund Drive set for February 25 and 26. A former Hotel and Restaurant Commissioner he holds many honors and public service roles including trustee Berry College Mount Dora Yacht Club and director First National Bank Mount Dora. He and his wife Marie Lytle Page have three daughters.

Mount Dora Solons celebrate local achievements in history
Yesterday marks twenty years since Mrs Florence Lee Melvin passed the State Board of Pharmacy exam after earning a BS in pharmacy from the University of North Carolina. Ten years ago the city debated higher fuel rates and fees. One year ago the Mount Dora Jaycees honored Tom Champion with a Distinguished Service Award and lifted a PTO pancake supper. Today it’s warm.
