Surplus Food Distribution Begins Soon
Lake County and the Federal Government will start distributing surplus foods to about 5 640 citrus workers in the county mid February. Unemployed workers may receive food at no cost while awaiting relocation efforts. The former Post Office building in Tavares will serve as a storage warehouse. Robert Alderman of Mount Dora will supervise with a $350 monthly salary.

Bruce Campbell took first, Arthur Strobl second, Mrs. Pier third, and Walter Peter fourth in the main event. William Nolet and Harland Wheeler won consolation. Northern District Doubles in Umatilla saw Lyle Wood Earl Shorb win first and Mrs Ethel Wood Mrs Myr tle Root second. Red and Black play on Jan 9 produced top Red Ralph Woodard Walter Peter 260 and Black Kinsman Jones 256 with tight playoffs. Regular card party followed at the Clubhouse with pinochle and bridge.
