Carnegie’s Library in Moberly A Portrait of a Town
Edythe Wald reviews Caroline Werkley’s MR CARNEGIE'S LIBRARY set in Moberly Missouri. The piece portrays a gray Carnegie library, its diverse patrons from Ben Jacks to Miss Hilda Buck and Mrs. O'Malley, and a gypsy visit that stirs town programs. The narrative links early twentieth century library culture to enduring beliefs about reading and community.
