Boy Scouts Host Bean Supper With Community Helpers

The 22 Scouts, led by Eldon Miller, visited the Community Building for a bean supper hosted by Mrs. Evans and a ladies committee. Yacht Club Regatta Rains Delays Start With Four Boats

January races at the Yacht Club faced rain and a light north west breeze. Four yachts—Jinx, Ohio, Comet, and Poise—started at 3:00 p.m. with Poise gaining on the windward leg and overtaking Comet on the second leg. Jinx suffered rigging issues and finished after the time limit, while Ohio finished two minutes later and Comet slowed by time allowance. A groomed winner from last winter is expected next Sunday. Weekend power-boat races will continue Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. from the Yacht Club pier, with the first date to be announced and ongoing through winter except the fourth Saturday each month.

At a recent Central Florida Golf Association meeting delegates selected the St Andrews course of the Moumouth hotel for this year’s weekly trial. Headed For Eden junior class play at Mount Dora High

The junior class presents Headed for Eden a three act comedy by Sidney Duvall at the Community Building on Friday January 21. Set in Mrs Skipworths rooming house in South Chicago the play follows Kate and her brother Bob with his girlfriend Henry and a newspaper reporter Ken Howard as they navigate love and trouble culminating in Bob's acquittal. The production features a large cast of mainly girls and promises humor suspense and adventure. Ticket sales begin this week.
