Nicklaus Snead to Enter 1967 Florida Citrus Open

Jack Nicklaus and Sam Snead announced their intention to compete in the 1967 Florida Citrus Open at Rio Pinar in Orlando March 9 to 12. Gary Player plans to return, via manager Mark McCormack, with Gardner Dickinson Jr., Tig Herbet, Mike Souchak, and Dave Marrburg already committed. The event will be telecast on March 11 and 12.

Florida medical help instructors lead Southeastern region courses

Florida medical help instructors under the State Board of Health taught 4 187 courses since March 1963, second in the nation to Pennsylvania which taught 5 043. Courses covered artificial respiration bleeding and bandaging fractures splinting burns shock transportation of injured emergency childbirth infant care shelter readiness and healthy living in emergencies.

Caudel Dies Beloved Mount Dora Resident Caudel

Robert G. Caudel, 57, native of Frenchburg Kentucky, died Saturday February 11 after living in Mount Dora for 22 years. He co owned the Caudel Larsen Texaco Station and was a member of First Baptist Church Mount Dora Golf Club and former Lions Club. Survived by wife Dell son Charles Robert daughter Delores Anne father Shelby sister Opal Larsen brother Gordon A. Caudel all of Mount Dora. Services were held at Rehbaum Harden Chapel February 13 at 4 p.m. Interment Pine Forest Cemetery.

Cerebral Palsy Drive Reaches Mount Dora Totals

Mount Dora communities raise funds for Lake County Cerebral Palsy drive. Local totals include 312 from residents, 229 by Creamons Chevrolet, 138 from Pistol Petticoats led by Chief Huett, 239 by Safety Patrol, and a 100 anonymous gift. Telethon appearance featured Paul Fagiole as beneficiary. Local total reaches 909 with Creamons added to 680 raised locally.

Rotarians Hear Lincoln Theme By Schriver

Dr. Lester Schriver pastor of the Community Church of Mount Dora spoke at the Mount Dora Rotary Club luncheon. A Lincoln scholar and author, he received the Lincoln Diploma of Honor from Lincoln University and once addressed 3000 people at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington.

George White Honored For 40 Years At Mount Dora Bank

George White Sr. was honored at a Mount Dora Bank Board meeting for forty years of service to the First National Bank of Mount Dora and his community work with the Chamber of Commerce Kiwanis Club and local institutions. Alfred Rehbaum presented a sterling silver tray to White, highlighting his civic leadership and long public service including roles with the Federal Reserve Bank Atlanta the Asolo Theater drive and local military and Red Cross efforts. White announced his resignation as a director while remaining chairman of the bank board.

Water Ski Show and Baton Twirling Contest Set for Eustis Saturday

Frankie Dees from Cypress Gardens and the Lakeland Water Ski Club perform at Lake Eustis near Ferran Park on Saturday February 18 at 230 pm for a Washington Birthday celebration. The Stars and Stripes Open National Baton Twirling Contest runs from 8 am to 2 pm with participants from Georgia South Carolina and Florida. A parade follows the baton and ski events.
