Mount Dora editor wins Florida top travel feature award
Billie Libby managing editor of The Mount Dora Topic has been named Florida State Winner in the National Travel Contest for Weekly Newspapers. She receives 100 prize dollars and a plaque for a seven column travel feature on Mount Dora’s Palm Island. The 1966 contest drew 689 entries from 45 states and promotes Discover America and related tourism campaigns.

Mount Dora community volunteers the Pistol Petticoats will solicit donations for the United Cerebral Palsy Fund Drive during the week. Police Chief Huett says contributions may be made via the Police Department Billie at the Topic or any posse member. Funds will be collected at Kemp's Coliseum during the WDBO-TV Telethon supporting cerebral palsy research and services.
