Burkart Re-enrolls at The Citadel after WWII service
Bob Burkart, a Jacksonville native who moved to Mount Dora as a youth, re enrolled at The Citadel on September 9 1940 and after three years of study entered active duty. He served in Maryland Louisiana Europe and Belgium Holland Germany and Czechoslovakia earning the World War II Victory Ribbon and EAME Ribbon with three bronze stars. He was discharged December 1 1945 and resumed his major course in chemistry at The Citadel.

The Florida Waterway Congress meeting at Mount Dora is postponed from February 22 to the first week of April due to hotel crewed facilities and a clash with Washington's Birthday in Palm Beach and Eustis.
