Mount Dora considers fire hydrant upgrades and water mains
The Utilities and Fire Committees will report to the next biweekly Council session with recommendations for addressing the lack of fire hydrants responsible for most fires in town. Jim Snell notes the Middle School sits on a 4 inch main. An $15,000 to $20,000 estimate for an 8 inch main from the water plant to Unser Street is discussed. The Council adopts a resolution to issue Refunding and General Improvement Revenue Certificates not exceeding $650,000 at 4.88 percent over 10 years, including $280,000 in old certificates to be refunded and about $370,000 cash remaining.

Inauguration Delayed as City Plans Funding Extensions
The delay in starting the bus service stems from grant extensions of 90 days with LCEO seeking a similar extension from Florida. By next fall LCEO may hand over operations to a nonprofit or seek more funds or abandon the project. A $340000 capital reserve remains. Bond counsel will validate funds in about 90 days. Councilwoman Murray drafts a tree removal regulation starting with the Building Inspector and a 3 member Control Board, then City Council. existing single family homes are exempt.
