A.M.L. Floridate reports festive preparations across town with Chamber of Commerce backing efforts to decorate streets and reserve the Community Building for holiday gatherings. Local bosses hosted employee parties while youth groups from Mount Dora are noted as available. inquiry continues about public listings and church notices.
A Mount Dora survey shows most residents favor developer costs for roads sewers open space water connections and sidewalks with public hearings on zoning and growth. Two respondents opposed plebiscite based geographic limits and one urged cost analysis be public. Mrs. Jennie Simpson Stovall, 92, longtime Mount Dora resident and community figure, died last Thursday. survivors listed.
The Mount Dora Chamber will close at noon Monday December 31 and reopen Wednesday January 2. City Hall offices will be open. Funeral services for Mrs. Stovall were held Sunday at Rehbaum Harden Chapel with Rev. David Coffield officiating. interment at Pine Forest Cemetery. The TOPIC will publish January 3. News and ads for the paper are due by noon Saturday December 29.
