Lake County's citrus stretch dominated agriculture in 1956 with 16 372 000 boxes valued at 24 650 000 and oranges grapefruit and tangerines totaling 1 737 000 3 917 000 and 563 000 boxes respectively. The county produced 77 760 acres of citrus and cleared 6 000 new grove acres at a cost of 1 590 000 while forestry ornamental plants ferns and honey added to the economy.
