The approaching holiday is shown by town trees for sale. Mount Dora High football coach Gene Bebber displays booster club trees at the Bank of Mount Dora while David Shipes and Tom Stephens promote the Boy Scout stand sales.
Children waiting for the next feature in the Saturday parade watched eagerly as about 75 units including bands floats and attractions prepared to roll through the route.
The Chamber of Commerce sponsors Mount Dora event on December 21 at 7 30 p m in front of City Hall. Ed Waite directs the sing with participation from all local churches. Parking near City Hall is reserved for those unable to stand.
Homeowners in Mount Dora challenged an apartment boom at a City Council meeting. A 17-signature petition halted one 72 unit Lincoln Street project and a second rezoning at First and Grandview drew a similar petition. Officials defended the action as good faith housing growth.
Santa Claus will spend an hour and a half in Mount Dora on Saturday afternoon from 2 to 3 30 p m talking with children up to age 10. He will learn their Christmas wishes and assess their conduct. Edith Sage, formerly with the Mount Dora Police Department, will assist.
