Frank Fowler kills Huge Rattlesnake in Florida hunt

On a Wolf Branch trip Frank Fowler startled a 6 ft 2 in rattlesnake that charged unseen. He fired from a lowered gun and killed the snake which had swallowed a full grown rabbit. Lamoreux photographed Fowler with the reptile.

Gudgeon Kills First Deer on Hunting Trip

T. J. Gudgeon bagged his first deer last week while on a Big Scrub hunting trip with Mr. Begole and party. Sitting on an orange box by the road, he shot a finely formed six prong buck that trotted into range, using a new rifle. This was the sole deer taken by the party.

Urge Completion Unpaved Link State Road 2 To Tavares

A Chamber of Commerce special meeting discussed the delayed completion of the unpaved section of State Road No. 2 between Tavares and Mount Dora. Residents pressed for action, noting available funds and delays despite promises to advertise bids last June. A committee was authorized to draft resolutions urging the State Road Department to finish the project and to pursue further action.

Mount Dora High boys beat Clermont High by 23 to 17 in a hard fought game. Clermont led early but Mount Dora rallied in the second half as fouls mounted on both sides. The match capped a triple header with a next game set for Friday December 19 at Donnelly Park at 7 30.

The Mount Dora Tourist Club approved a revised constitution and by laws at a Friday meeting. Officers include president, first and second vice presidents, secretary and treasurer with year end elections in December. The Mount Dora Yacht Club launches weekly speedboat races on Lake Dora starting Saturday afternoons after January 1.
