Mount Dora Junior Woman's Club announces an outdoor lighting contest open to residential properties within town limits. Registrations due by 5 pm December 6 at the Chamber of Commerce. Judging by viewing installs. lighting runs nightly 7 to 10 pm from December 23 to December 30.
The Princess Theatre offers a special Saturday morning matinee on December 17 to raise funds for the King's Daughters Christmas fund. The feature Start Cheering stars Jimmy Durante and Charles Starrett with a supporting cartoon Porky and Daffy. Tickets 25 cents adults 10 cents children. proceeds go to charity.
The P. T. A. sponsors a food sale on Saturday December 10 at 9 00 in the vacant store beside the A and P. Donations should arrive by 9 00.
The University of Florida Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Tourist Club with Mr. Elmer Setzer and Mr. Warner Wilson. Program includes Coronation March, Gluck overture, Hayden military, Tschaikowsky song and violin solo, Tarantelle, Adagio Pathetique, Tales from Vienna Woods and more.
Jacksonville headquarters of the Florida Tuberculosis and Health Association reports active Christmas Seal sales in all counties including Lake County which aims to exceed its quota. Funds support locating TB cases clinics for indigents education sanatoriums and national research. Mrs. J D Pease urges purchases and remittances through Miss True and the Mount Dora committee.
Mount Dora and county Home Demonstration women hold a two day Bazaar at 418 Donnelly Avenue on December 8 and 9. Doors open 10 a.m. both days with coffee pies and cakes and a sale of needlework novelties canned goods plants and cooked foods. Co chairs Mrs Finzel and Mrs A A Park with several Mount Dora and Whitney volunteers serving as saleswomen and cashiers.
Rehearsals for Bethlehem by Geo F Root proceed satisfactorily under Mrs Florence G Hanscom. The Community church choir will present the cantata Sunday evening December 18 at the Community church, promising a standout holiday musical event.
The ladies of the Methodist church announce a cafeteria supper at the church starting Tuesday December 13 at 5 30 PM. Proceeds support church activities.
In Mount Dora two notable residences changed hands this week. Napoleon Hill and wife bought the Frothingham mansion overlooking Lake Dora for about 17000, with plans to reside and mentor youths as part of Hill’s philosophy. L C Broom purchased the Garlick lakeside home for 10000, with intent to add a wharf and boat house for larger vessels.

Local chairman W P Wingler announced speakers J Berton Webster and P O Coslson of Jacksonville, both nationally known, with representatives from Lake Seminole Orange and Volusia counties.
Malone Realty reports leasing the south half of the Hague apartment on Tremain street to Mr and Mrs R M Stephens of Springfield Massachusetts. They plan Mount Dora as a permanent winter home after wintering in Daytona Beach last season and St Petersburg the year before.

Mount Dora Tourist Club opened its season before a crowd of over 200 at the Community Building. Karl Lehmann presented a lecture and moving pictures on Florida Beautiful, while Dr Poole offered a verse greeting. The Wise Orchestra provided music and refreshments followed, as plans to raise club membership to 800 were urged.
The Lake County Country Club hosts a no admission dance this Saturday December 10 from 9 30 to 1 30 at Mount Dora with Music by Eddie Stephenson and his WDBO Radio Orchestra. Members and guests may obtain admission cards from directors Alfred Rehbaum Al Bell and David Edgerton and plan a season of bi monthly dances and buffet suppers to support a permanent social center.
