Kings Daughters Will Pack Christmas Barrel For Children

In December the Kings Daughters assemble a Christmas barrel for the Children's Home and invite donations. The barrel will be packed next week with canned foods clothing toys or cash. Donations may be left at the Bank of Mount Dora by Wednesday and the community is urged to support the project as in past years.

Clermont Bank Robbed of $5,000

The Citizens' Bank of Clermont was robbed of about $5,000 shortly after noon Tuesday by two unmasked men who forced assistants into the vault and escaped by car. Fingerprint experts from Orlando aided the search as police investigated the robbery and two suspects, T. O. Mercer and Walter Morris, were later arrested in Arcadia, Florida.

Publicity Fund Fails to Alter Publicity Goals

At the council meeting it was clarified that a prior motion regarding funds returned to the Publicity Fund for the boys band and Chamber of Commerce does not negate the fund’s general purpose. The council plans to use the money through Oct 31 to advertise the town with entertainment to attract and retain guests, starting with Sunday park concerts and other attractions for a memorable winter season.

The W. C. T. U. held at Community Church Chapel on December 1. Officers were re elected: Mrs. Carr president, Dr. Clapp first vice president, Mrs. Little second vice president, Mrs. Chapman third vice president, Miss Fitch secretary, Miss Butts treasurer. Fire Destroys Grand View Hotel in Eustis

A fire at the Grand View Hotel in Eustis, caused by a defective third story fire, required aid from Leesburg Tavares and Umatilla. the roof and third floor were ruined while lower floors flooded. Guests escaped unharmed as surrounding departments battled the blaze for about two hours.
