Up The Appalachian Trail With MD Scout Troop 71
A Maryland Scout troop 71 hike along the Appalachian Trail ran June 19 to 29 with 16 boys and three adults. Preparations spanned over a year including camp training and lectures on hiking methods. The group traveled by bus from Mt. Dora to Atlanta then Amicalola Falls and began the trail from the first shelter ten miles apart. They faced rain and route sign confusions but completed the planned ten‑mile days with support from Mr and Mrs Morgan who supplied the group at shelters.
