In a 11 inning showdown between Winter Garden and Mount Dora Frank Pemble delivered a Texas leaguer to left, scoring Franklin for a 7-6 Mount Dora win. Minister of Music Joins First Methodist Church in Orlando

Dr. Hawkins, Westminster Choir College graduate, will serve as Minister of Music at the First Methodist Church Sunday. He will be soloist at Morning Worship led by Rev. R. C. Holmes, with Mrs. Daniel H. Bishop on piano. Holmes is the Orlando District Superintendent in his sixth year. Sunday School meets at 9 45 a m and Methodist Fellowship at 7 p m.

During July the residents of Lake County bought $90,000 worth of E Bonds and $211,772 in E bonds, reflecting strong savings discipline and community participation.

The American Legion teams with the Lions Club to raise funds for charity. Tickets raffle a Swift Woodcraft Outboard Runabout and a Martin 7 hp outboard motor from Mount Dora. Mount Dora Kiwanis hosts Tavares Kiwanis for an inter club meeting today with the program provided by the visiting club. Last week speaker Burnham Reilly of Eustis described experiences in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps and OSS work. An invitation from the Mount Dora Lions for a joint meeting on September 13 and another from the American Legion for a joint meeting in October were accepted.

Mount Dora Schools Resume After Holiday Opening

The Mount Dora Public Schools reopen Monday September 9 at 9 o clock with an opening assembly. An elementary faculty meeting is set for 10 a.m. Saturday the 6th and a high school meeting at 2 p.m. Delinquent examinations will be given Monday the 9th. The principal D. D. Roseborough will be in the office Thursday and Friday the 5th.

Mount Dora merchants at a chamber meeting endorsed uniform weekday hours 8 to 6, Saturday 8 to 8, and noon closures Wednesdays May to October with grocery stores adding year round noon Wednesdays. They also backed closing ads solicitations by out of town peddlers and urged council action on occupational licenses.

B. O. Bob Bowers, linotype company representative, and his family move from Mobile Alabama to Mount Dora on the 29th. They will reside at 318 North Tremain Street, corner Third, with Bowers taking over the post long held by George Keller for about twenty five years, a welcome addition to Mount Dora and Florida printing circles.

Mount Dora sees building permits rise from 31,850 in 1937 to 201,375 in the first half of 1946 with 51 new homes in 1946. In Miami Dade County, deputy recorder Marion Ford reports a surge as 62,861 instruments were filed through July 1946, part of the postwar boom following a 1925 peak and 1945 totals.

Rev J D Mosteller and wife and son Don visited Mount Dora with his parents Mr and Mrs A J Mosteller. Rev Mosteller preached at First Baptist Church on August 25. They returned to Chicago where he serves Calvary Baptist Church and plans to continue Ph D studies at the University of Chicago. Brother Paul Mosteller accompanied them after two months in Maine and Chicago.

W. D. Patton Takes Vacation from Princess Theatre

W. D. Patton, manager of the Princess Theatre, left on a vacation trip Wednesday and plans to meet Mrs. Patton in Waukegan Illinois where she is visiting with her son. He expects to see his brother in Kalamazoo Michigan before returning to Mount Dora with Mrs. Patton in mid September.
