War Finance Committee For Lake County To Be Organized

The War Finance Committee of the U S for Lake help will be organized at a conference in the Court House Tavares at 2 30 p m on Wednesday September The Florida War Finance Committee will coordinate Third War Loan activities and merge Victory Fund and War Savings work in the county chaired by Karl Lehmann Jacksonville with W W MoSenior of St Petersburg as chairman and other officials from Jacksonville Orlando and St Petersburg. Attendance urged for both Victory Fund and War Savings workers as conferences proceed in multiple counties this month. Names from Lake and nearby towns appear in attendance rolls.

Poultrymen To Meet In Orlando September 2

Three state poultry groups the Florida State Poultry Producers Association Florida Poultry Council and Florida Hatchery and Feeder Association will hold a joint meeting in Orlando on September 2 at 10 00 a m. The program includes a film Food for Victory Crusade and talks by L Perry Francis H Corrigan Donald H Bell and Walter G Walker. Roy Durr of the International Baby Chick Association is invited to attend along with Extension of Agriculture representatives.

Volunteer Spotter Shortage Affects Post Operations

The Post urges town residents to volunteer for spotting duties as the Band school runs August 23 to September 3 and school resumes September 7. Shifts 9 to 12, 12 to 3, and 3 to 6 am need coverage. David Durwood Sellers volunteers in the Seabees and leaves with the Lake County contingent for induction at Camp Blanding. James Drawdy, petty officer second class, is in the Pacific serving as cook aboard an aircraft carrier. Corporal J Wilton Adams is on furlough in Mount Dora. Charles Pohlman spent furlough days with his parents and returned to Savannah army base.

Cadet Boxell Visits Mount Dora Before Wings

Army Salute To Wood Caravan To Tour 10 Southeastern States

The War Department will tour a 4200 mile pulpwood and lumber promotion caravan through ten Southeastern states with 250 troops and veteran volunteers. It visits Perry Florida and Lake City Florida as the first stops and includes side mill tours and exhibits to spur forest product production for the war effort. Captain John Edwardson leads the caravan with support from Under-Secretary Patterson and multiple federal and regional agencies.
