City council golf contract questioned amid ethics concerns
Letters argue the council may lease city property but should avoid improper influence and ensure fixed, inflation resistant rents. They question 75 year term, 5 percent gross rental, and city funded services while officials and police receive playing privileges. A local civic rebirth theme closes the note.

Mount Dora Council Reviews First Draft of 1975 76 Budget
Mount Dora City Council examined the initial 1975 76 budget draft showing a deficit of 22020 80 to be covered by spending cuts or revenue increases. Expenditures and debt service total 2 085 282 80 with revenues of 2 063 212 fairly stated per City Clerk Carl Fowler. The electric department leads projected revenues at 1 116 500 followed by ad valorem and personal taxes 248 830 water 222 100 and cigarette tax 147 300. The electrical forecast reflects about one million kilowatt hours less usage after new rates, with June down 64 percent and July down 44 percent from last year. The year ending Sept 30 faces about a 40 000 deficit due to lower electric revenue. Sewer cannot be self sustaining even at 4 50 monthly, and doubling would not cover costs. An item adds 7 500 to fund phase one of the 201 plan for a joint sewer system, expanding the sewer deficit to 44 245 with electric and water profits at 383 800 and 95 925 respectively. Further sessions will review budgets.
