Opening night for Oliver! at Ice House Theatre Mount Dora features Keith as Oliver Twist with a 40 member cast. Director Allen Wilson conducted long rehearsals and students pay 1 for students and 3 for adults with no reserved seating, box office staffed by Margaret Batterton.
J Folsom is named principal at Mount Dora High School with Oole Edwards Jr named assistant principal. The Lake County School Board approved the move as one year contracts. Folsom cites a long Mount Dora tenure and plans to maintain current curriculum while Edwards brings Madison Middle School teaching background.
Alfred Rehbaum Sr prominent Mount Dora businessman and civic leader died Tuesday at 80. He founded Rehbaum Hardware in 1915 and Rehbaum Funeral Parlor later Rehbaum Harden Funeral Home. He served as bank organizer, Kiwanis officer, chamber leader, and held multiple local posts. Survived by son Alfred Rehbaum Jr and daughter Mrs I G Shuman Jr with many grandchildren. Funeral at Rehbaum Harden Chapel with Dr Lester O Schriver officiating. Interment Pine Forest Cemetery.
Public schools in Lake County will open Monday August 25 for the new year. Enrollment is expected to rise slightly from 1974/75 levels. Mount Dora High School may see one of the largest increases with up to 50 new students above last year’s 670. Registration for new area students is underway with details on Page 12.
Nine performers from Mount Dora play Oliver! at the Ice House Theatre. Show runs Aug 14 15 16 and Aug 22 23 at 8 30 p m with matinees Aug 17 and 24 at 2 30 p m. Tickets 3.00 for adults 1.00 for students at the door.
