Death of Mrs J C Urquhart

Mrs J C Urquhart wife of J C Urquhart and mother of Cameron A Warren and Grace Taylor died August 7 after a three month illness. Cameron arrived from Chicago two days before and Grace had been in town in June. The death came after a brief improvement. Continued on Page 6.

Believers Disband in Mount Dora to Aid Chamber

At a Mount Dora meeting held in the Chamber of Commerce room last Tuesday, Believers voters unanimously approved suspending operations and turning over $915.50 raised last year and the treasury balance of over $80 to the Chamber. The group urged backing Saturday night entertainments through the Chamber and planned a board meeting for August 18 to coordinate city publicity and events.

A J White's Grandmother Hosts Annual Family Reunion

A. J. White of Mount Dora returned from a months vacation in Dothan Alabama for his grandmother Mrs. A. J. Hagler's seventy fifth birthday celebration. Hagler has eleven children and seventy five grandchildren with forty five great grandchildren. reunions since 1922 are held at a different child’s home, most recently at Old Union Church in Dothan on the fourth Sunday in July.

Lake County Votes to Cut Millage by Half a Mill

After over a month of work by the County Commissioners the County School Board and other officials a tentative budget lowers Lake County millage by 0.5 mill and state millage by 0.25 mill with county funds kept intact. The total county and state millage will be 30 mills plus district and school increments as applicable.

Fires for Week Set Record Here

Three vacant houses burned in a week raising concerns of a fire bug or prowlers. Friday evening the Enser avenue and Eleventh street location was destroyed after the fire department lapsed. Late Saturday the LaBreck house in Franklin Park, a stucco residence, was also a total loss before water could be connected. Authorities warn increased patrols to deter arson and break ins at vacant homes.
