Mount Dora High School begins 1964 football drills at 7 am Monday led by Head Coach Jesse Dyess. Two a day sessions run until Aug 31 with early physical exams for all prospects Friday and Saturday. Initial week focuses on conditioning and non contact fundamentals. pads start Aug 24 per FHSAA rules. Dyess, a Florida State graduate, joins from Fort Lauderdale and Leon High in Tallahassee.

Adrienne Graham Sadler widow of Orin Winslow Sadler Jr died in Maitland after living with her son Dr Glendy G Sadler since her husband’s death last November. Born April 2 1881 in Pittsburgh she and Orin Sadler made Mount Dora home in 1907. She helped organize the Congress of Mothers and Mount Dora Historical Society and held leadership roles in the Mount Dora Woman's Club and Daughters of the American Revolution. Survived by three sons Gould Edward and Glendy with seven grandchildren and a great grandchild. Funeral at Rehbaum Chapel with Rev Alfred T Johnston officiating. Interment Pine Forest Cemetery.

Park Commission Plans Highway Beautification Along 441A
Mount Dora Park Commission will beautify US Highway 441A entering Lake Dora with dogwood and crepe myrtle plantings. Sleight and Harris selected trees at a North Florida nursery and outlined a plan to plant along the highway shoulder between the railroad overpass and the Grandview Hotel, near Yucca. Total project cost is about $1000 and work aims for mid November completion.

The State Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission will survey Lake Dora shad this month to judge if a future kill is needed. Ed Zagar of Mount Dora says the recent shad deaths stem from algae driven by lake fertility and pollution, not a planned removal. If needed, a kill could occur in November, with surveys also in Lake Carlton and Lake Beauclaire.

Florida Revenue Commission reports July sales and use tax at 21,214,430, up 31.82 percent from July 1963. Commission director J. O. Straughn cites expanded tax changes and June timing as factors.
