Fred M. Compton urges Mount Dora citizens to demand action as he warns Lake Dora water may harbor deadly amebic meningioencephalitis risk. He notes ameba thrives in fertilized warm waters and calls for lake testing and posting to protect swimmers, arguing for broader lake cleanup.
Shipes plans tearing down the current Idler Marina to build a new facility on Lake Dora offering 100 stalls for boats up to 26 feet and larger. The project includes a seawall and three finger piers, a clubhouse, sales and service shops, and aims to start around June 1 with opening about a year later.
