At a Monday night Town Council special meeting the Florida Gas Company franchise for supplying and distributing commercial gas to Mount Dora was given first reading. A May 12 meeting was set for further action to review a proposed 11 mile piping plan and a 30 year franchise with six month start. The company pledges no disruption to drainage or underground utilities and to restore parkways and preserve trees.

The program featured a solo by Mrs. Marjorie Wilt a duet by Mr and Mrs A P Sidel an address by Rev F W Overhiser candle and flower ceremony with six sisters names read and a white lily placed for each deceased sister or brother including Sister Clarissa Gillett.
