He served in the Mexican border campaign and overseas with the AEF in World War I and has chaired Ernest Westbrook Post 41 in Eustis. Official Training Films Planned at Silver Springs

Two motion picture units from the Army Signal Corps Photographic Laboratory at Astoria arrive at Silver Springs for a month long filming operation. Lt. Dan Dailey Jr. will star as a sergeant in a chemical warfare film directed by Captain L B Appletat with Captain W Coppersmith as cinematographer. Pvt. Lewis Howard, a Universal juvenile actor, will lead speaking parts in a jungle warfare film directed by Captain John Waters with Sgt. Mike Raydock as photographer. Over 60 officers and men per unit, a model camp is set up in Silver Springs Park for the stay.

David Bryan Wiley son of Major and Mrs D L Wiley joined the Seabees on January 29 1942 as second class machinist mate. He spent about four months at Norfolk Virginia then nine months at Camp Allen Virginia and is later stationed at Camp Perry Virginia. He rose to first class machinist mate on December 1 1942 and chief machinist mate on March 1 1943 before enlistment he worked for the Orange Buick Co in Orlando.

East Town Woman Charged in Fatal Cutting Event

A fatal cutting affray occurred Monday afternoon in East Town. Georgeann Gaines slashed Allie Bell Marshall during a dispute over alleged stolen money at Geraldine Smith’s North Grandview residence. Marshall died en route to a hospital. Gaines was arrested in Tavares and jailed. An inquest date is not yet known.

Lions International District Conference Heads for Lakeside Inn

Florida Lions hold 19th annual conference May 3 4 at Lakeside Inn Orlando with 175 delegates and about 70 clubs to hear. Lake side Park will host a 2 10 p m surprise feature with the U S Army and Leesburg air base officers. Concerted meetings run through Tuesday with a Mount Dora Woman's Club card party and social events planned.
