The Florida Dehydration Company plant at Zellwood suffered a total loss on its first test run, insured, with 50 workers battling flames using 1000 feet of hose before Mount Dora and Apopka fire crews stopped spread. The Chicago firm Sokol and Co. owned the plant, a Florida first of its kind with major government contracts. Facilities such as boiler room and water systems survived and rebuilding is planned promptly.
