Councilman Howard Cox says he was mis quoted in the April 7 issue when it claimed he threatened to resign if a proposed ordinance to assign chief administrative officer duties to the city clerk was approved. The council approved first reading 4 to 3 with Cox, Dake, and Wald voting no, and second reading planned for the next meeting at 8 pm in City Hall.
Marilyn Crotty, chair of the Central Florida Commission on the Status of Women, spoke at the Lake County committee meeting in the courthouse April 7. She outlined goals, possible committees, and a talent bank project, noting the commission’s $20,000 budget and an upcoming International Women's Year session in Orlando July 15–17.
