Two Dead in Clay Pit Shooting Near Tangerine
David Brian Leeper, 18, is jailed without bail after a shooting at a clay pit near Tangerine left Steve Willis, 19, of Sorrento dead at the scene and Jerry Clemmons, 32, of Zellwood dying later at Florida Hospital South. Witnesses say Willis and Clemmons helped pull a truck from soft sand when Leeper and a companion arrived and began target practicing, leading to a fatal dispute. Leeper fled, was arrested hours later, and charged with two counts of first degree murder. Clemmons and Willis, brothers-in-law, had a joint funeral in Mount Dora.
