Woman's Club Ends Successful Season

The Woman's Club closed its season with a luncheon at Lake County Country Club attended by sixty five. Officers were thanked and new leaders announced including President Mrs. Charles Marsh and 12 committee chairmen covering program art music literature ways and means civics hospital hospitality membership welfare publicity and the library. The club reported increased membership and a strong library program aided by generous gifts and the Junior Woman's Club support.

Perkins Doing Well on New Haven Job

Friends report Raymond Perkins now head chemist at Rochester Products Corporation in New Haven. The firm holds the patent for asbestos insulated wire used by the U.S. Navy. He also managed the shop basketball team, skated in winter, and continued singing in a New Haven church choir performing The Messiah last season.

Nurse Receives New York State Registered Nurse Certificate

Miss Eleanor Weis has passed the New York State Board examination and is certified as a registered nurse. Through reciprocity she can practice in Florida. She studied at Strong Memorial Rochester after time at F S C W Tallahassee, and plans to graduate this summer. She visited family, including her father Dr Miller Wells, over the weekend.

No Word Yet Of Charles Griffith And Student Pilot

Orlando searchers have not located pilot Charles Griffith of Mount Dora or the student he trained, last seen leaving Orlando airport April 5. An intensive, weeklong hunt covered wide areas with aircraft, cars, and riders. a $500 reward is offered for any information, but no clues have emerged about the missing plane or men.

Half Holidays Start Next Week

Local business houses will close Thursday afternoons starting next Thursday April 21. A few shops will stay open for a short time, including Sally.Dress Shop closing May 1 for summer, Frock and Frill Shop closing soon for the season, and Rest-a-While Gift Shop. The Grand Leader may stay open Thursday afternoons for a few weeks.

Mount Dora High School has been accepted without reservation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Principal D. D. Roseborough was notified by the Florida Commission on Secondary Schools. Mount Dora is among 120 Florida schools accredited for 1937 38, enabling graduates to enter college without further examination.
