Nell Rankin in Grove Area Recital Draws Mixed Praise
Gus the Grove Man reviews Nell Rankin's Community Building concert noting a spotty program, strong opening pieces by Gluck and Handel, a standout piano accompaniment by Phyllis Grandy, and mixed reaction to the later selections including Ave Maria and operatic numbers. He praises Rankin's warm tone, but suggests the encore-heavy second half and some doleful pieces overlong.
