City Awards Purchase Of New Power Mower
The city will buy a new power mower at an estimated cost of 475 dollars at the request of Street Department Councilman Warren Morgan. Morgan sought approval for the expenditure Tuesday night before Council and his request was granted. The mower will be used chiefly along street parkways.

Dennis Stephens Drowns While Water Skiing at Lake Gertrude
Dennis L. Stephens, 25, a dispatcher for the Mount Dora city fire and police departments, drowned in Lake Gertrude Wednesday shortly after 1 pm. His body was recovered about 50 minutes later with help from Mount Dora, Eustis, and Lake County sheriff's deputies. Stephens and Harvey Caldwell were preparing to water-ski when the boat drifted from shore. Stephens attempted to recover it and called for help before disappearing.
