Governor Spessard Holland proposed a three cent cigarette tax per package to cover wartime revenue losses of about 10 million dollars annually. Two robberies were discovered Thursday morning at Clark's Recreation Center and Win C. Sleight's Wayside Packing House. Cash and checks were stolen, with entry through windows in both cases. $105 plus checks at Clark's and $22 in silver at Sleight's. No arrests have been made.
