Holland Urges Three Cent Cigarette Tax to Meet War Losses

Governor Spessard Holland proposed a three cent cigarette tax per package to cover wartime revenue losses of about 10 million dollars annually. The Mount Dora Branch of The Needlework Guild of America expresses gratitude to friends who contributed 355 garments and household articles to the Guild's 15 directors. The Mount Dora Yacht Club, oldest in the state, elected Commodore Kennedy after a year led by retiring Commodore Church. Last week only red A stamps could buy meat and dairy. This week unused A stamps remain valid along with red B stamps. From April 11 to 17 red C stamps join unused A and B stamps. Red A starts March 29 expires April 30. Red 3 starts April 4 expires April. Red C starts April 11 expires April 30. Red D starts April 18 expires April 30.
