Jaycees Set Car Inspection Across Mount Dora Friday
The Jaycees plan a voluntary car inspection on Saturday April 11 as the third safety phase. Dick Martin of the Mount Dora Police Department teams with Dwight Mosteller to run up check stations at the Methodist Church Parking lot from 10 am to 6 pm and the Shopping Center from 2 pm to 6 pm. All Florida Jaycees conduct similar checks to help owners spot minor defects and reduce accidents.

Lake GOP Primary Registration Deadline Near Mount Dora
A Republican primary will be held in Lake County in May with efforts to recruit voters to switch party affiliations. Voters must be registered with their party and cannot cross into the other party primary. Registration can be completed before noon Saturday at the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce.

Lewis R. Heim Dies At 89 In Orlando
Lewis R. Heim 89 of 436 N Shine St Orlando died last Sunday. He helped develop Sylvan Shores and served as one of the first directors of First National Bank. He funded the baseball park bearing his name and was active in City Council Kiwanis Chamber of Commerce. An inventor and bearing manufacturer, he was a New York native and Methodist member of Masonic Lodge. He moved to Orlando 20 years ago. Survivors include widow Effie daughter Mrs Carl C Van Etten son Charles R Heim sister Mrs Michael Goesch stepson Forrest Sultzbach four grandchildren one stepgrandchild and five great grandchildren.

The Mount Dora Yacht Club and Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce host the 11th annual regatta with heats at 10 a.m. three-minute intervals. Mount Dora Jaycees with local doctors and health officials will offer oral polio vaccine at community buildings and shopping center locations on April 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The trivalent vaccine costs 50 cents per dose with booster doses planned for June 7.
