Rezko freed from prison to halfway house
Chicago AP report notes Antoin Rezko, Blagojevich fundraiser, released from the Federal Correctional Center Pekin to a Chicago area halfway house. Rezko, 60, had been serving a 10.5 year sentence for fraud and money laundering tied to state business efforts and additional fraud for pizza chain sales, with May 2016 custody end date. In Philadelphia AP brief, Cosby accusers feel vindicated by his admission of giving quaaludes before sex, while Hollywood friends hedge on whether a crime occurred. Cosby acknowledged giving quaaludes to a 19 year old in Las Vegas in 1976 and to unidentified others.

Judge Finds Chicago Jail Newspaper Ban Violates Free Speech
A federal judge in Chicago ruled that Cook County Jail's 31 year old total ban on newspapers violates inmates First Amendment rights. The judge acknowledged security concerns but said the prohibition is an extreme response that extinguishes inmates ability to read news. He noted prisons elsewhere do not impose such bans.
