State's IOU with county tops $100K
MOUNT CARMEL The Wabash County Commissioners learned the state owes the county more than $100,000 in reimbursement funding during its meeting Monday at the Wabash County Courthouse. Treasurer Beverly McBride said the sum of $100,251.91 is owed, largely from two months of sales tax reimbursement totaling $94,251.91 plus $3,300 in salary reimbursements for a public defender and an assessor. She expects eventual payment, though timing is unclear amid Springfield budget impasse. a court order may be needed to release funds.
