The county health department under Dr. T C Britt will finish pre school clinic work next week examining hundreds of children entering first grade next fall. Vaccination for smallpox and diphtheria plus a full check of teeth tonsils and overall health will be done and parents informed of any treatments. Clinics covered Pilot Mountain White Plains Flat Rock Copeland and Mount Airy area students with sessions at North Main School Monday May 15 and Rockford Street School Tuesday.

The Moravian minister Rev John Llewellyn Sprinkle died at his Belo Home apartment in Winston-Salem aged 42 after a long illness. He once led Grace Moravian Church and later served Providence Moravian Church in Forsyth County. Survived by wife Mary Walker and stepmother Mrs Lee Sprinkle, he was buried in Salem Moravian Cemetery after services at Grace Moravian Church.
