The Southern Public Utilities Co plans to start the Mount Airy gas system by Monday at the latest with four crews. Materials and equipment are en route, and Mr. Whitlock aims to finish before cold weather. Location of the gas plant is not yet announced. Mr. Scott from Greensboro will supervise the project.

The six months old son of Mr and Mrs Ernest Moore died at their home on Factory Street after a two month illness. Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday morning by Rev M F Booe pastor of Haymore Memorial Baptist Church with interment at White Plains.

Thompson for Sheriff Heats Up Democratic Field
John D. Thompson of Mount Airy today publicly said he would accept the Democratic nomination for county sheriff if the party asks him to run.
