Mount Airy Beautification Drive Seeks Can Collection Milestone
Mount Airy plans ongoing beautification efforts led by Chamber of Commerce chair Bettye Breedlove. The main project is aluminum can collection with a target date for completion. Can totals from Tharrington Elementary School and local effort run around 70 bags. Recycling value stands at about $100 per ton with 10 to 12 cans per pound. A wire frog incentive is being built to motivate participation.
