Patrick Court Disposes Of Three Murder Cases
In Patrick County the regular criminal term tried three murder cases. Will Reynolds, a colored man, shot at Will Hairston during a colored revival, killing Hairston and injuring Cobb. Reynolds received a life sentence after waiving a jury. Robert Holt was convicted of killing Frank Hodge near Mount Airy and sentenced to 12 years. Joe Gwyn was jailed for the shooting of Protch Marshall near Friends Mission and sent to state prison for three years.

Surry County sent about 70 into the unemployed army and after two weeks of training at Fort Bragg they were sent to the National Parks near Asheville. Jim Tuggle of Mount Airy reports his son Oscar enjoys the work and lives, building 17 miles of road and coping with rattlesnakes bears and mountain wildlife while waking at 5 30 daily.

Medical Society Meeting Held at Norvale Crags
The Grayson and Carroll counties medical society ended its annual gathering Monday night with a business session in the lodge reception room at Norvale Crags. Attorney S F Landreth spoke, followed by a 7 o'clock dinner in the lodge dining room. Visitors enjoyed mountain scenery from Wits Point as improvements at the property continue under J K McKnight and T N Woodruff with new cottages for weekly or weekend rentals and a full electric and spring water system.

L A Lineberry Dies After Long Illness at Gladesboro Virginia
Luther A. Lineberry 75 of Gladesboro Virginia died last Saturday after a two week illness following a stroke three years ago. He was a Virginia farmer and Lutheran Church member known for helping orphans. Survived by wife Emma A. Martin Lineberry and sister Mrs Kenny Worrell of Wyoming. Funeral from Lutheran Church Gladesboro Sunday at 11 with Rev Sheilly of Willis officiating. burial in church cemetery. Relatives and friends attended from nearby.

Man wakes to find guest dead at Thomas home near Lambsburg
Sheriff Thompson and Dr. R E B Smith investigated the death of Mick Snow at Houston Thomas’s residence on Piper Gap road near the Virginia line. Snow and Thomas, brothers in law, had days of drinking. Snow died on a porch chair. Authorities ruled natural causes, likely heart failure, with no foul play. Mrs. Bernie Hollingsworth, formerly Miss Eva Joy Worrell, is quite sick, but is reported more comfortable at this time.
