Mount Airy Town Board Sets Fees Exemption for Manufacturers
Town commissioners discussed Schedule 8B privilege licenses and will keep the current fee schedule for the coming year while exempting manufacturers from the requirements. An expected revenue drop of 1290 dollars is projected. The board authorized Town Engineer F G Doggett to explore an agreement with Mount Airy Development Corporation for a water line across US 52 to its property. They deferred terms for selling Renfro Street by the Finance Committee and took no action on Grace Street street lighting. Industrial refuse pickup was sent to Public Works, and parking meters were updated with Renfro Street meters removed and penny parking used elsewhere. Motorists were warned to expect meter changes over the next several days.
